If you have been writing on Medium for a decent amount of time, you know how rewarding it feels to finally go viral on one of your articles. It’s truly a euphoric feeling!

Although it definitely is something to be proud of, success on Medium has little to do with crafting up one, or even a couple of successful articles. Succeeding on this platform means consistently pushing out quality content that is hyper-targeted to your following or reading base.

The developer team for Medium knows this, which is why Medium offers a section dedicated to showing you statistics pertaining to your articles, reader interests, and more.

Often overlooked, the “Stats” section of Medium can mark the difference between a good writer and a successful (and good!) writer.

I personally use the Stats section every time before writing an article, and it helps me minimize writing “dead stories”. In this article I analyze one of my dead stories, along with one of my viral stories, and explain how easy it is to replicate success using stats.
